Bordeaux Prison (also known as Établissement de détention de Montréal) is Quebec’s larges Provincial jail. Built in 1912 the Bordeaux Prison can accommodate upto 1,402 male offenders in remanded custody or sentenced to Provincial time of 2 years and under.

Do I need to be on an incarcerated person’s visitors list?

Not for the first visit (immediate family only); then, the incarcerated person must put you on his visiting list.

How can I schedule a visit?

You must register yourselves at the visitor desk. Registration hours are:

Sectors A,B and C:

Monday to Thursday 8:20-10:30AM and 12:30-2:45PM

Thursday night: 5:30-7:00PM

Friday: 8:20-10:30 and 12:30-1:30PM

Saturday, Sunday and on holidays: between 11:00 and 16:15.

Sectors D, E, F and G (except D2):

Monday to Thursday: 8:20-10:30AM and 12:30-2:45PM

Friday: 8:20-10:30AM and 12:30-13:30PM

Saturday, Sunday and on holidays: 11:00AM-4:15PM

Sector D2:

Thursday night: 7:45 and 8:15PM

Friday: 8:20-10:30AM and 2:15-2:45PM

Visitation Information:

Length of visit: 60 minutes.

Number of visits per week: 1 (protective custody or segregation), 2 (remand); of these two, only one can be during the weekend.

Number of visitors per visit: 4. Immediate family only (and wives/girlfriends)
