CSC uses shared, reciprocal values to guide their behaviour, decision-making, and discretionary judgment. These shared values are useful in day-to-day work within CSC and with all partners and stakeholders.<\/p>\n<p>In living these values, CSC demonstrate their commitment to personal and professional integrity and to working together to shape, an organizational culture aligned with those same values.<br \/>\nCSC is proud of their work and accomplishments, and the spirit of collegiality and cooperation in which they achieve them. CSC believes in the human capacity for positive change and recognize that relationships are at the core of their work. Through many of their relationships, they contribute in diverse and significant ways to Changing Lives and Protecting Canadians.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CSC Values <\/strong><br \/>\nExamples of the CSC behaviors illustrate CSC\u2019s values. These illustrations are but a few of myriad perspectives with which to engage conversation, deliberation, and personal and collective action.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Respect<\/strong><br \/>\nRespectful behaviours honour the rationality and dignity of persons \u2014 their ability to choose their own path, within lawful order, to a meaningful life. A good test of respectful behavior is treating others, as we would like to be treated.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Associated Behaviors: <\/strong><br \/>\n\uf076\tConsulting with and valuing the views of others<br \/>\n\uf076\tTaking time to explain decisions which have an impact on others within the constraints of privacy and policy<br \/>\n\uf076\tRecognizing the accomplishments of others<br \/>\n\uf076\tSharing accurate, relevant, understandable information in a timely manner<br \/>\n\uf076\tEngaging others in developing solutions to difficult decisions<br \/>\n\uf076\t Taking care of anyone whose dignity or well-being is compromised within the challenging work environment of CS<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fairness<\/strong><br \/>\nA complex value in both theory and practice, fairness involves balancing conflicting interests, and exercising impartiality, objectivity, equality, and equity in interpersonal relationships. Similar to respect, a good test for fairness is to treat others as you would like to be treated.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Associated Behaviours<\/strong><br \/>\n\uf076\tUsing facts to support conclusions<br \/>\n\uf076\tConsidering the interests of all concerned parties<br \/>\n\uf076\tProviding timely and constructive feedback<br \/>\n\uf076\tTreating others with dignity in even the most difficult circumstances<br \/>\n\uf076\tSelecting and preparing people to meet organizational needs in a professional manner<\/p>\n<p><strong>Professionalism<\/strong><br \/>\nProfessionalism is a commitment to abide by high ethical standards of behavior as well as relevant group standards, and to develop and apply specialized knowledge for the public good. Professionalism is anchored in a commitment to integrity \u2014 a commitment to uphold their values in even the most difficult circumstances.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Associated Behaviours:<\/strong><br \/>\n\uf076\tTaking a personal responsibility \u2014 updating competencies, skills, and learning and applying new developments in one\u2019s field<br \/>\n\uf076\tKnowing and applying ethical and professional standards of conduct<br \/>\n\uf076\tAligning professional and organizational standards to serve democratic values<br \/>\n\uf076\tAligning the exercise of professional discretionary judgement with CSC and Public Service values<br \/>\n\uf076\tAcknowledging and being willing to work through different professional perspectives<br \/>\n\uf076\tExercising self-discipline and self-control in our relationships with others<\/p>\n<p><strong>Inclusiveness<\/strong><br \/>\nInclusiveness is a commitment to welcoming, proactively accommodating and learning from cultural, spiritual, and generational differences, individual challenges, and novel points of view.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Associated Behaviours<\/strong><br \/>\n\uf076\tBeing willing to engage with others<br \/>\n\uf076\tCreating a representative workplace<br \/>\n\uf076\tIncluding relevant stakeholders in collaborative decision making<br \/>\n\uf076\tMentoring<br \/>\n\uf076\tBeing open to new ideas.<br \/>\n\uf076\tCreating a learning environment which promotes development, dialogue, problem solving, and healthy resolution of conflict.<br \/>\n\uf076\tAdopting relevant best practices from other organizations and cultures<br \/>\n\uf076\tWelcoming communication in either official language.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Accountability<\/strong><br \/>\nAccountability involves the notion of being willing and able to explain, answer to and justify the appropriateness of actions and decisions. Accountability is applicable to everyone within CSC.
