In the comments section we are hoping that people can outline their experiences and foster communication that will assist others going through similar events.<\/p>\n<p>When you are preparing a support letter for your incarcerated loved one, it important to include the following information in your letter. These information will server to identify who you are, your relationship to the individual and the type of support you are going to be.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Remember <\/strong><br \/>\n\u2022 Do not justify, excuse, or minimize the individuals actions<br \/>\n\u2022 Date and sign letter the letter you are sending<br \/>\n\u2022 Send copies to the individual, parole officer, and Parole Board of Canada<br \/>\n(510 Connor Drive, Suite 100, Kingston, Ontario, K7P-1N3)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Letter from Personal Support <\/strong><br \/>\nFirst Paragraph<br \/>\n\u2022 Your Name<br \/>\n\u2022 Whom you are writing in support of and what type of hearing it is for (Day, Full, detention, etc.)<br \/>\n\u2022 What is the relationship of the individual to you?<br \/>\n\u2022 How long have you known him\/her.<br \/>\n\u2022 How have you remained in touch while he\/she was in prison (telephone, visits, letters, etc.?)<\/p>\n<p>Second Paragraph<br \/>\n\u2022 Positive accomplishments you\u2019ve seen while in prison (work, school, programs)<br \/>\n\u2022 Awareness of person\u2019s needs (substance abuse, anger problems etc.) *This shows you are aware of said persons needs and are willing to support them*<br \/>\n\u2022 Positive changes you have noticed (less impulsive, less selfish, acceptance and acknowledgement of faults, etc.)<\/p>\n<p>Final Paragraph<br \/>\n\u2022 Any\/what type of support you can offer (place to live, financial, emotional, etc.)<br \/>\n\u2022 Thank them for their time and you hope the person is granted __________ (day parole, full parole, residential, passes)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Letter from Employer <\/strong><br \/>\n\u2022 Name of individual, position and company name (on company letterhead)<br \/>\n\u2022 Note that the letter is an offer or confirmation of employment<br \/>\n\u2022 Job title and description<br \/>\n\u2022 Hours per week, wages\/salary &amp; schedule<br \/>\n\u2022 Expected start date<br \/>\n\u2022 If the board has any questions provide contact<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A support letter to your incarcerated loved one is the most important things you can do to help with parole and release.
